Renew Hits Sales Landmark for Second Time

Howard/Green Bay station moves millionth gallon of E85

July 17, 2008

HOWARD, WI: On July 17, 2008, the Renew Fuel Station at 2481 Lineville Road in front of Olsen’s Piggly Wiggly became the second station in Wisconsin to sell one million gallons of E85, a vehicle fuel containing 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Jennifer Hatig of Green Bay, the customer who filled up her 2007 Chevrolet Suburban with the millionth gallon, says since E85 has been available she and her husband have owned three flex fuel vehicles – vehicles capable of running on straight gasoline or E85. Hatig explains she loves the flexibility of being able to fill up with E85 and save money when gas prices are so high and plans to always buy Flex Fuel vehicles in the future. In recognition of helping Renew landmark, she received $100 in fuel.

Renew has offered E85 at it’s Howard station since it first opened in February 2006. Renew’s station at Highways 41 and 76 in Oshkosh became the first location in Wisconsin to sell 1 million gallons back in January 2008. Jay Stoflet, Director of Retailing for Renew explains, “While selling 1 million gallons of gasoline would not be much of a landmark for a station, hitting a milestone like this is a great accomplishment because there are far fewer vehicles that can use E85. Landmarks like this show auto manufacturers there are many people interested in helping reduce our dependence on foreign oil and using local renewable fuels, and that the interest is growing.”
